What Would You Do?

With this window?

(Please excuse the blue tape and the giant stump that needs to be taken out:)

I'm not sure what to do either.

You see, the stairs were apparently added after the house was built.
The windows are new so we can't mount blinds inside.
I have to do an outside mount.

Decisions, decisions!

So, what would you do? I need help!

  1. Hi Fletcher,

Do you want to be able to cover the window for privacy? If so, I think a good workroom could make a valance that would fill the area to the bottom of the cut-off corner and inside of the valance you could mount a sheer panel at the bottom edge that would screen the lower portion of the window that is 'square.'

    All best,
    Phyllis

  2. Hm.. one idea would be a short rod (I've seen A Thoughtful Place blog use a handtowel bar for drapes before!), then just a mounted hardware tieback and keep drapes tucked behind the hardware (hard to explain!) Depends on what's on the other side and if you need the window covered or just decorated...fun challenge:) I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

I'd grind it. (We ARE talking about the stump, right?)
